Program Recognition

Our Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program faculty bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and recognition in the field. In addition to named Fellows of the American Psychological Association (APA), the faculty include a past Editor of The Counseling Psychologist (an official publication of the Society of Counseling Psychology) as well as former Associate Editors of Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and the Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development. Many of our faculty have served on APA boards and committees. One of our faculty was a founder of the Caribbean Alliance of National Psychological Associations, and another served as President of the Society for Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology.

Among the many awards faculty members have received are the prestigious APA Humanitarian Award and Joseph B. Gittler Award from the American Psychological Foundation, in addition to being honored for their research, teaching, service, and leadership. Faculty members have written, edited, or co-authored influential books, as featured below.

The majority of our faculty are Licensed Clinical Psychologists in the state of Florida, bringing both academic and clinical expertise to their teaching and mentoring. They bring diverse experiences to the program, having worked in a wide range of settings including the prison system, career counseling centers, national nonprofit organizations, university counseling centers, and community centers. Reflecting their commitment to serving multicultural and multilingual communities, faculty members have provided bilingual services in Haitian Creole and Spanish. Reflecting the Program’s commitment to student development, the faculty are committed to collaborative scholarship and regularly co-author publications and presentations with students. Student Recognition​

Our students are an integral part of the Program. They bring diverse perspectives and a wide range of interests. Additionally,they contribute valuable insights drawn from prior experiences, such as post-bachelor’s experience across the public, academic,and private sectors.
